ok, this is my first fanfic, that was (like fireblade-kun's) posted on the Nsider. it took a while, but i was able to save all of it onto word (didnt do that to start with...*falls to floor*) so here it is!
Prelude
This story begins some time after Link had saved the lands of Hyrule and Termania. He had been wandering around various worlds, helping people and going on adventures. But with time comes age. Link had been traveling for years, helping countless people and facing millions of monsters, but something was missing. So he headed back to Hyrule to see what had changed since he had left there years ago. He came into Hyrule Square to find out the Zelda had just gotten married to a prince from one of the countries Link had been to over the years. Since the party was that day, and everyone was invited, Link decided to visit her and congratulate her on her special day. When Zelda saw him there, she was very happy. She ran up to him and began to ask him many questions about how he was, where he had been, and what he had done. They sat down and talked about his many adventures, when Zelda's husband walked over to their table. He recognized him from his country, and thanked him for everything he had done for them. Link said is was no problem, and then told him about what he had done for Hyrule. Zelda's husband was impressed, and they all sat down to talk.
After many hours of talking, the party ended. Zelda offered for Link to stay in the castle, so that they could make up for lost time, but Link politely declined that offer, saying he had somewhere to go. And he did. He was going back to Termania. He bid Zelda and her husband farewell, as he mounted Eponia, and road off into the woods. Zelda was sad to see him leave so soon, but her husband said that it may have been for the better, since they had a kingdom to run. Zelda nodded, and they went back to Hyrule Castle.
While riding through the woods, Link remembered his first time there. After regaining his childhood, he went out to find Navi, and ended up lost here. This is where the Skullkid possessed by the Majora's Mask and kidnapped Eponia, leading to his adventure to save the land from the falling moon. It brought back many good memories that made Link smile. As he reached Clock Town, he got off Eponia, and headed for the Inn. There was a new innkeeper, who greeted him with a smile. He was lucky to get a room, since it was near Clock Town's annual festival. He spent the night at the Inn, and left in the morning for Romani ranch.
When he arrived there, he was greeted by Romani. He hardly recognized her, since they were both young when they last saw each other. She remembered him, and ran to hug him, thanking him again for what he had done for them, and all of Termania. They walked up to her house, and she made him some tea. They sat down and talked for a long time, when Romani said that she loved Link. Link was shocked, but realized that he felt the same way for her. So after a few months of planning, they got married. Link decided to stay with Romani, and help her run the ranch. She was so happy that they were going to stay at the ranch, but when she asked Link if he wanted to change the name, he said no, because it was named after his beloved wife, which made her blush. After the reception in town, they went back to the ranch, happier than ever.
As the years past, Link and Romani grew closer and closer together. Eventually, they had a daughter, who they named Rina. She looked so much like Link, but had Romani's eyes. She even had Link's pointy ears, and long beautiful blond hair. Link treasured her more than anything he had before.
After hanging up his sword and shield, Link took up becoming weapon-smith. His equipment was the best there was. He had customers from all over the earth that came to buy his handiwork. But now and then, people spoke of his adventures. Rina loved to hear these stories, and would go into town just to hear the people talk about her brave father. Rina soon decided that she wanted to go on adventures too, but Link said no. And that he didn't want to lose her. Having her dream shot down by her role model hurt, but that didn't stop her. She secretly began to gather things together, to get ready to take on her own adventure. So she waited till the perfect time, till after her sixteenth birthday....

So, two weeks after she turned sixteen, Rina decided to go out on an adventure! She already had all of the supplies she needed after saving up for many years, and she finally had a sword (which she got from Link for her birthday along with a shield). With that, she began to pack, grabbing all of the items she would need. She grabbed the bottles she had bought, the bow her mother had given her a few years ago, the sword and shield from her father, and the tunic that she bought in town. She really liked the tunic, it was a deep bluish green, and was very beautiful. Rina walked in front of the mirror in her room, and admired herself. The tunic fit perfectly, and once she had the rest of her equipment on, she would be ready to leave. After carefully, getting the sheathed sword on her back, and the shield on top of it (like her father had showed her), she looked around to make sure she had everything. Quietly, she made her way down stairs. It was before dawn, and she didn't want her parents waking up and finding out what she was doing before she had left. On her way past the kitchen table, she left the note she had written last night, and went to the barn.
When she arrived inside the barn, she grabbed some of the arrows her mom kept in there to fill her quiver, and then she looked around for her horse, Slate. Slate was a wonderful steed. He was dark grey, with a solid black mane and tail. She loved him a lot, and that practically grew up together. When she found him, amidst the cows, chickens, and the other two horses, she went up to him and got his saddle on. "Don't be scared Slate." She whispered in his ear, "We’re going on a little trip, ok? Try to be really quiet until we get off the Milk Road." Slate nodded, and the two slowly snuck out of the barn. Outside, she saddled up, and made a slow trot to the gate of the ranch. Once she was out of the ranch, she just had to make it past the Milk Road gate and she was home free, but something unexpected happened. A giant red balloon flew in from over head. "Oh no.." she groaned. "It's Tingle! Hurry Slate, we can't let him see us!" Slate hurried into the shadows just before Tingle landed.
"Ugh!" Tingle groaned, "I know I'm almost 60 years old, but I can't give up until I find my fairy! Tingle knows that it's out there somewhere!" Tingle shuffled to the side of the road, where he blew up his big red and yellow balloon, and took off again. Slate and Rina gave out an exasperated sigh, and continued on. Once they were outside of the gate, they head towards Clock Town.

After the sun had risen, Rina and Slate made there way into Clock Town. "Wow, we finally made it. That was longer than I thought", Rina sighed to Slate, who nodded. They walking into the main square and looked around to try and find some kind of hint as where to go next. Then, all of a sudden, a man ran up to Rina.
"Excuse me, but do you know where the inn is?" the man gasped. "I'm sorry to bother you, but you are the first person I have seen since I got here last night, and I don't have the faintest idea where to go."
"Oh, it's ok!" Rina smiled. "The Stock Pot Inn is in Eastern Clock Town, you can't miss it." The man's face lighted. By the look of him, he had been traveling for a while, and seemed to have slept outside last night. "By the way," Rina started. "Did you just get here from out of town?"
"As a matter of fact I did." the man smiled professionally. "The name is Gremor, William Gremor. I am a traveling lawyer, out here on business."
"You don't look like much of a lawyer." Rina said, looking at his tattered clothes, and unshaven face.
"That's because it took me three days to get here. You're lucky you have a horse!" Gremor said, looking at Slate in wonder.
"Anyway, I just wanted to know how you got here. I was thinking about doing some traveling, and I don't know how to get out of Termania...” Rina said, looking down at her boots.
"That's easy!" Gremor said. "All you have to do is go into that Clock Tower over there! The gate into and out of this town is down there...by the way. What's your name?" Rina didn't know what to say. He had already told her his name, and it was polite to give your name...but what if her father ran into Gremor and asked if he had seen her?
"Umm..." Rina started, "My name is Rina, but PLEASE don't tell anyone."
Gremor smiled. "Don't worry I won't. Let me guess...are you going to Hyrule?" Rina nodded. "Wonderful! I'll keep an eye out for you if we ever cross paths again." He tipped his hat, and started to make his way over to the eastern side of the town.
Rina was so excited. She had finally got the information she needed. "Ok Slate! Time to go into that Clock Tower!"

They walked up to the Tower, and Rina pushed open one of the heavy oak doors. "Ok..." she groaned under the strength of the door. "Now we're getting somewhere!" With the door open, they walked inside.
The inside of the Clock Tower was very different then the outside. It was very dark and gloomy. There also the air was very damp inside due to the river that powered the clock. "Now where is that door?" Rina thought out loud. "It's got to be around here somewhere." She nudged Slate over to a ramp leading downward, deeper into the tower. "Come on, Slate, its got to be this way!"
"That would be correct, young one" said a voice from no where. Rina jumped, and looked around to find out where the voice was coming from. "It seems like it was only yesterday when I asked your father to get my precious mask back, and now you've come here, seeking something...hmm...yes. I think that I can help you little girl."
"Who are you? Show yourself!" Rina demanded. She had never heard her father talk about a person inside the Clock Tower. Not only that, but he knew him personally. "Come on...I'm not joking!"
"You have nothing to fear child." the voice said calmly, "for I am only here to aid you in your quest!" There was a soft rustling of cloth, and the sound of shifting wood. And then, a man walked out of the darkness, carrying an enormously large pack on his back. Rina turned white. How could she not have noticed him? "My my, how you look like him." The man grinned. "I am the Happy Mask Sales man. Now, what is it that you desire?"
Rina looked down at her boots, "I...uhh...I want to go to Hyrule." The man smiled. Setting down his pack, he motioned for her to follow him. He started down another ramp, leading to a cool, wet platform, wet from the spray of the river and the waterwheel.
"Very well, dear child. This is where you need to go." the Mask Salesman revealed a door, made of solid stone and encrusted with jewels. "Now, let me warn you. The forest and mountains in between the two lands are very dangerous. There is but one town in between, but it is a strange town. Do not stay there over night, or you will never be able to return." Rina shivered at that thought. Not being able to return because of staying in a town? She was glad he had warned her. "Now for the door itself. Only one of you shall come up to it at a time. For you child, you must place your hand here, on this large green gem. The door will then see if you are worth to pass. If it finds you worthy, then it will open, but your horse will also go about the test." Rina glanced at Slate. Slate stared back at her, and nodded in agreement.
The Mask Salesman stepped aside, and let Rina go up to the door. She placed her hand on the gem, and it glowed a bright, blinding green. Rina had to squint to even try to look into it. And then, as suddenly as the light came, it went, and the door slowly slide open. "Now you must go through. Once the door has closed, then it will be your horse's turn to be tested. Rina nodded, and walked through the doorway.
When she was fully through, the door slowly slid shut. She turned around, and waited for Slate to come. A green light shown through the crack under the door, and it opened. Slate trotted through to her, and the Salesman waved from the other side. Rina waved back as the door closed. Then she mounted Slate, and began to ride through the forest.

In the forest was very dark, and foggy. Although she could just make out the shapes of tree trunks, Rina couldn't really see anything besides that. "I hope we're going to right way..." Rina whispered. She heard the sound of rustling leaves, and the snap of a twig. Instantly she got out her bow, and knocked an arrow. Slate stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the noise, allowing Rina to get down and be ready for whatever was coming. After turning around, she looked ahead, when something grabbed her from behind. "What! A Redead? HERE!" Rina shouted as she tried to break free of her captor. Slate reared, trying to scare away the Redead. The Redead backed away, and Rina put away her bow, and got out her sword. She started towards the Redead, when it started to talk.
"No! No! Please stop! I don't know what I did to offend you, but please...spare my life! I'll do anything! I just want to go home!" the supposed 'Redead' pled. Rina looked at the figure, cowering up against a near by tree. It seemed to be a man, but something seemed different. It was like he was from another world or something. Rina put away her sword, and took a step towards the man. Even in this close she couldn't get a good look at him in the dim light, so she decided to make a fire.
After the fire was made, the man introduced himself. He said his name was Brian, and that he was from a village outside of the forest. He said he had been wondering in this forest for at least a week, and he couldn't find an exit. Rina was amazed that there was a village so close, so she told Brian that she would help him. He was so relieved, and he hugged her again. Brian had confessed that he, out of pure excitement to see another person, hugged her from behind. Rina said that she was fine, and told him never to do that again, for it was too much like a Redead attack. He got a confused look on his face, and asked what a Redead was. Rina was amazed.
"You don't know what a Redead is?" she said, very loud. Brian shook his head. "Well...Redeads are basically zombies, that freeze you in fright with their high-pitched shrieks, and then grab you from behind, and such out your life!" Rina explained.
"What are you talking about? There are no such things as zombies!" Brian blurted out. "I don't know what your customs are from where you come from, but let me assure you, zombies are fake!" Rina just stared at him, shocked at what he just said.
"Oh course they are real! So are ghosts, and dragons, and magic!"
"Are you insane? Do you come from a fairy tale land or something?
"I'm telling the truth! Those things and lots more really are alive!"
Brian was going to yell back at Rina, when a howl was heard in the distance. Brian, just laughed, saying it was just a wolf and they had nothing to be scared of, but Rina turned pale. "Are you ok? What's wrong? Are you afraid of wolves?"
"Those aren't wolves," Rina said. "Those are wolfos!" Brian just stared back at her, going on how there were no such things as werewolves, while Rina stood up, and got her bow out again.
"What are you going to do with those?" Brian asked smugly. "Is wolf a common dish in your country?"
"Just shut up ok! Unless you want to get killed." Rina snapped. She had had it up to here with that guy. "Or I could just leave you here for the wolfos to get." Brian went pale. There was another howl, this one sounded closer. Rina got tense; she knew that they would be attacking soon.
And then a wolfo jumped out from behind a nearby tree. Brian screamed, and ran behind Slate, who rolled his eyes in disbelief. Rina sighed, and knocked an arrow, ready to attack. The wolfo lunged at her, but she easily dodged, and shot the arrow into its back, killing it instantly. Brain was amazed at her aim, and was about to come out from behind Slate, when a second wolfo ran into the light of the fire. Rina was ready for this one too, and killed it like the first. A third one came, but during the fight, it was knocked into their fire and was killed. Putting out the fire, and leaving them in darkness.
"Well..." Brian laughed. "That could have been worse! And good job with that bow.....what's that?" Brian was pointing to a light, far off in the distance. It looked like it was from a lantern, which brightened Brian's face. "Oh my gosh! That must be one of the other villagers out to save me! HEY!!! WE'RE OVER HERE!!!" Rina was still looking at the light, when it started to come their way. She took a step back, towards Slate, in disbelief. The light kept getting closer and closer, when Rina finally realized what the thing holding the light was. It was a Poe and a strong one too. A normal arrow wouldn't be able to kill it, so she would have to use a Light Arrow. She just hoped she could get enough magic up for it.

Brain was so excited that the light was coming closer. "Finally! I'll be able to get out of here!" Brian said, relief filled his voice. When Rina began to aim her bow at the light, Brian was angry. "What are you doing?" He yelled at her. "Do you not want me to get out of here? Do you just want to have me all for yourself?" Rage began to grow between them. Brian continued to look happily at the light, and now and then would shoot a disgusted look over at Rina, who didn't even look at him. She was trying to build up her magic enough to be able to shoot a Light Arrow at the Poe, but she didn't know if she could do it.
The Poe was within seven yards of them, Rina brought her bow up again. Brian was going to yell at her again, when he saw her arrow glowing with a bright yellow light. Within a second, she fired it at whatever was holding the lantern, and Brian finally saw that it was not someone from his village. Upon contact with the Light Arrow, the Poe began to shine brightly, and then it began to scream. Its shriek was so awful, Rina and Brian could barley hear, even when they had covered their ears with their hands. Then, as suddenly as it had started, the light disappeared, along with the Poe, whose lantern fell to the ground with a soft thud.
"Now do you understand?" Rina said sharply to Brian. "I was trying to protect you!" Brian was just staring at the lantern, his hopes smashed. Rina walked over to him, and put her hand on his shoulder. "Come on; let's get out of this forest." Brian didn't say anything, he just barely nodded. Rina grabbed his arm, and lead him away from their campsite.
No one talked for an hour or two....until Brian finally said, "I'm sorry." Rina looked at him funny. "It's just, I should have trusted your judgment, but I didn't. All I could think about was getting home, and seeing my friends again...but you were trying to save me."
Rina looked down, not knowing what to say. Brian was just staring off into the distance, not even noticing the trees as they passed, lost in thought. When Rina muttered, "Your welcome."

After walking for another hour, they finally saw the village. Brian's face light up and he began to run towards the small cluster of houses. "I really don't see what he likes about the place." Rina muttered to Slate. "It's a small group of houses in-between a forest and a few mountains....strange." Slate nodded, and they followed after Brian.
When they actually got to the village, Brian told Rina that he was taking her to dinner. Rina was a little shocked at this sudden burst of kindness, but after hearing her stomach rumble, she accepted. They went to a nice restaurant, and were greeted by a nice waiter. "Ah! Brian! Where have you been? Everyone in town has been worried sick!" the waiter exclaimed. "Oh! And who is the girl?" Rina blushed.
"This is Rina," Brian explained. "She helped me get out of those darn woods!" The waiter smiled at her, and showed them to their table. When they were seated, Brian ordered them drinks. "Order anything you want." Brian said, looking over the menu. "Dinners on me today!"
"Thanks Brain. I haven't had anything to eat since last night."
"Really? You went through that entire forest on an empty stomach? And you didn't even complain....amazing. Oh! The waiter is back." Brian and Rina ordered their meal, and were then left alone, while their food was prepared. Rina looked around at the restaurant. She was amazed that there were so many people there. It seemed like it was just a normal pub, but it was more like a fancy dinner. "So, where are you going to be staying tonight?" Brian asked, breaking her thought filled silence.
"Umm....I'm not sure that I'm even going to stay the night. I still have a long journey ahead of me."
"But you just got here! You HAVE to stay!"
"No, I'm sorry. Slate and I are probably going to hit the road after dinner. I really sorry I couldn't stay longer."
Brain stood up and slammed his hands down on the table. Everyone sitting around them stared at him, but he didn't care. "So! You save me out of the woods, just to get a free meal? I can't believe you!"
"What? Do you think that I would do that?" Rina was appalled. "I'm sorry I can't stay longer, there's just somewhere that I need to go!"
"What about me!? Don't I matter?"
"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?"
Brian was silent. He seemed to have run out of things to say. With that, Rina grabbed her bag, and ran out of the dinner. She went over to Slate, untied him, and hopped on his back. "Let's go Slate. We have to get out of here." Slate reared, and sped off towards the mountains.

Back in Termania, Link and Romani were worried about Rina. They hadn't seen her all morning, and it was getting late. Romani wasn't too worried about her, she knew she could take care of herself, but Link was a wreck. He kept pacing back and forth, trying to figure out where she could have gone. They had searched the entire house and ranch, but they found nothing, until a piece of paper that had fallen on the floor caught his eye. He rushed over to the table, grabbed the note, and read it. His worry turned to rage as he stormed out of the house. Romani picked up the note, read it, and sighed. She had known this day would come.
Outside, Link was getting ready to leave after Rina, when Romani came out. "What are you planning to do to her when you catch up to her?" Romani asked calmly, trying not to anger her husband even more.
"I'm going to bring her back here, that's what I'm going to do." Link said, not even looking up from what he was doing.
"But she's just doing what you did when you were younger! Traveling the world, fighting evil, meeting people from foreign lands..."
"But she's not me!" Link blurted out. "She could get hurt or killed out there! I don't what that to happen! That's why I have to go out there and save her!"
Romani just stared at Link. He was still not looking at her, and she knew that he was not going to change his mind. "Are you bringing your masks with you?" Link stopped. "They might come in handy you know." Link stood up, turned around, and hugged his wife.
"Could you get Eponia ready while I pack my things? I don't think she's gotten too far, so I'm not packing all that much. But I know that she won't come easily..."
Link went into their house to get his equipment on, and Romani went into the barn, to get Eponia.
After riding away from Brian's village on Slate, Rina began to change her mind. She felt bad for yelling at Brian, and was thinking about turning around and going back to talk to him. So she turned Slate around, and began to head back, when a fairy flew into her face. "Ow..." Rina groaned, rubbing her face. "Are you ok fairy?"
The fairy had fallen to the ground after the collision, but it seemed out. "I'm so sorry!" The fairy chimed. "My name is Yuna. What are you doing going into that village at this hour? Don't you know?"
Rina looked at the red fairy, "Know what?"
"I can't explain now, we have to get out of here while we can! I'll tell you once we get over those mountains." Rina followed Yuna, curious about what was so bad about the village so late at night. Once they had gotten over the mountains, Yuna stopped.
"Are you going to tell me now?" Rina asked, "We're over the mountains."
"Yes, but I don't know if we're completely save, we have to get to that forest." Rina looked in the direction Yuna had pointed. There was a forest over there, and it seemed like that was where she was going to get the information. So Yuna, Rina, and Slate went over to the small grove of pine trees. It was a lot farther than it had seemed, but once they were there, Yuna decided to tell her.
"Ok, that village has a curse on it."
"Really? What kind of curse?"
"That village is filled with people from neither Hyrule nor Termania. Those people have been living in that spot since the gods created the world, and they know nothing of our world."
"Wait a minute, when we were in the forest, Brian said that he didn't know what Redeads, wolfos or Poes where."
"That's because of the curse the gods put on that village. Every night, at midnight, a strong magical force wipes out anything from our world from the villagers minds. Monsters, items, events, even people."
At that Rina looked down. "Does that mean that Brian won't remember me tomorrow?"
"Yes. It's because the gods didn't what this land to be taken over by our people, so they made anyone who stayed the night lose their memories of our world."
"Now that I think about it, I'm glad that Slate and I left that bar when we did, and that we ran into you." Rina said with a smile. Brian was going to lose his memory, and she couldn't do anything about it. She decided to just keep moving forward, no matter what happens. "I almost forgot!" Rina said, jumping up. "I didn't tell you my name! It's Rina. I'm going to Hyrule on an adventure!"
"Really?" Yuna said, getting filled with excitement. "That sounds like so much fun! Can I go with you?"
"You WANT to come with me? But what about your friends and family?"
"Oh, well. I actually ran away from the Lost Forrest. I didn't want to join up with some Kokiri, so I left. I've been traveling around and around by myself for a few days now, and it would be nice to go somewhere with someone! Of course I want to go!"
"Ok! It's settled. Let's make camp for now. It's really late, and we need our energy once we get back on the road. I can't wait to see Hyrule!"

The next morning, Rina woke up very early. She wanted to get on the road as soon as possible, so she woke up Slate and Yuna, they ate breakfast, and then they began on their way. All of a sudden Yuna asked, "Can we go north for a ways?"
Rina looked at her curiously, "Why do you want to do that? The fastest way from here is through these woods?"
"Well, I told you I left the Kokiri Forest right?" Rina nodded. "Well, the forest is through here, and going back through here would have my running away be meaningless."
"Oh, yeah. So, what's north of here anyway? I don't have a map or anything, so I don't know where we're going."
"That's easy! North of here is the Gerudo Desert!"
"A DESERT? I would rather go through a forest!"
"Yeah, but.....it's a small desert, and there is a small 'village' where the desert ends, and Hyrule begins! Don't worry, it's not like the one we just came from!"
Rina sighed. It was going to take them much longer to get to Hyrule, but for Yuna's comfort, she nodded, and they began their trek north.
-------------------------
Back in Termania, Link was getting ready to depart. Eponia was saddled, his supplies were all together, and he had gotten all of his masks from the trunk he kept them in. Some of the masks were a little dusty, as he hadn't used them in years, but he cleaned them off, and got them ready for use. He had also grabbed the Ocarina of Time that Zelda had given him so many years ago.
Link mounted Eponia and said to Romani, "Don't worry; I'll bring her back sooner than you think." Romani nodded and looked down. "What's wrong Romani?"
"Well," Romani started. "You haven't left this ranch in years. It's going to be a little lonely without you here."
"Then why don't you go into town for a while? Stay at the Stock Pot and visit with some of your good friends. I bet that they will be happy to see you." Romani smiled. "And don't worry; I'm going to come back for you." And with that, Eponia reared, and Link took off, with Romani waving after him.

After an hour or so of traveling through the forest, Rina, Slate, and Yuna eventually came to a wasteland like area. "Ok," Yuna said, looking around. "We are getting close to the beginning of the desert." After passing by tree after tree, Rina welcomed the change of scenery, until she found out how boring wastelands were. "Don't look so down!" Yuna said, looking at Rina, "You'll like the desert much more!"
"I highly doubt that..." Rina said, under her breath.
"You should be happy we are going through the desert! Most visitors to Hyrule never even get to see it! With all the sandstorms, Levers and Poes, and don't forget those good-old Keese!"
"Ughh!! Why did I let you talk me into going this way Yuna!"
"Because I'm your friend! And I saved you from becoming like the rest of those idiots in that village back there!"
"I have a question though, why did the gods not want people from our lands living in there?"
"Well, because it would be the perfect spot for a war camp. It's a day’s walk, no matter what, from each country to that spot, so they made it that if anyone from our world stopped there, they would lose all of their memories. It's basically a way to keep peace between the countries."
"Really? Then that must mean that a lot of people know about it right?"
"WRONG! Because almost no one who goes through there ever comes back!"
Rina looked down. That was awful, but it was still a good idea. No wonder she had almost never seen someone from Hyrule at her father's shop. She had just never really thought about it.
"So, how much farther till we get to the desert?" Rina asked, trying to change the subject and break the silence that had fallen.
"Well, it shouldn't be too long. This wasteland isn't that big."
So they kept walking, trying to get to the village in the desert.

When they finally reached the desert, things didn't look to good. "Just how long IS it to this village?" Rina asked Yuna.
"Um...it's only a few miles west of here..." Yuna started.
"Only a few MILES?!" Rina shouted. "We have been walking for HOURS! Slate and I are tired beyond belief and it’s a few MILES!"
"Calm down! You want to get to Hyrule don't you?"
"But it's because of YOU we're even going this way!"
"WHAT!? Because of ME?!"
"If you hadn't run away from the forest, we could have at least been in Hyrule Field by now!"
"And if I hadn't stopped you from going back into the village, how much closer would you be then?"
Rina stopped, she knew Yuna was had saved her from making a huge mistake, but she wanted to be in Hyrule soon. She wanted to see it all. Rina sighed. "I guess another hour or two won't kill me."
"That's the spirit!" Yuna chimed in. "Don't worry; I don't think the Gerudos will mind us passing through...”
"Did you just say 'Gerudos'?"
"Yeah...what about them?"
"What are pirates doing in the desert?" Rina was shocked to hear that the same Gerudo Pirates of Great Bay were out in some desert.
"No, no no! I mean the Gerudo THEIVES. They live out here, I don't know why, but they do."
"So they aren’t the same as the Gerudos in Great Bay?"
"Well....they kinda are...but I think they are a lot nicer!"
"That's a relief." Rina was glad to hear it wasn't the same pirates. They would recognize her immediately.
They walked for another hour or so, when a giant mountain appeared in the distance.
"At the base is where the Gerudos live" Yuna said. "We're almost there!"
After about twenty minutes, they could see a giant gate at the foot of the mountain. "Wow," Rina said in awe. "That's a big gate. I can't believe that they built that all the way out here!"
"Well, it's supposed to keep any wandering spirits out of their village." Yuna said. "There are a lot of Poes and Big Poes out here, so they are always prepared.”
----
The Gerudo watching the gate saw something in the distance. "Hey down there!" the trainee called to the older Gerudo that she was working with. "Something is coming towards the gate!"
"What?! I'm coming up there to take a look. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!" The trainee saluted the Gerudo, who climbed the long latter with ease, as she had done it for many years. The Gerudo grabbed the telescope that was mounted on the stone wall surrounding the lookout, when she saw a person, a horse, and a fairy coming towards them. The Gerudo froze. She looked again through the telescope and was able to see that the person was wearing a green tunic. She jumped down to the ground and called to the head Gerudo. "He's come back! The HERO OF TIME has finally come back!" All the other Gerudos fallowed the head Gerudo as she ran to the gate.
"Is it really him?" the head Gerudo asked in awe. "Has Link finally come back to Hyrule?"
"It looks like him! Green clothes, horse, fairy!"
"What are you waiting for them? OPEN THE GATE!"

Rina was still looking at the gate, when it began to open. "Look!" she said pointing at the gate. "It's opening! It looks like they are welcoming us!"
"This is odd. I wonder why they are doing that." Yuna asked skeptically.
"Who cares! We're going to be able to get in!"
When they finally reached that gate, Rina realized just how big it was, and stared at it in awe. It finally took Yuna to run into her to bring her back, and they went in. The Gerudo Village was very big. Buildings carved out of the base of the looming mountain.
"Wow..." Rina said in amazement. "This is a lot bigger than I thought it would be."
"Yep! This is one of the most amazing things in Hyrule." Yuna stated, in a matter-of-fact tone.
While Yuna was spewing facts about the village, Rina noticed a group of Gerudos walking towards. The one in front looked very important. When Yuna finally noticed them, they were standing right in front of them, and all the Gerudos bowed to Rina.
"I cannot believe that you are back here in Hyrule." the important looking Gerudo said. "It has been many years since we have seen your face, Hero of Time."
"What?" Rina said. "Um...I think you have the wrong person. This is my first time in Hyrule."
The important Gerudo looked at her. "What are you talking about? Are you not Link, the Hero of Time?"
"Link? OH! You mean my father right? I never knew he was a hero..."
"Are you saying the legendary Link is your father?"
"Umm...that about sums it up."
"Ridicules! There is no way that is possible! Guards! Throw this ingrate into the cliff cell. And take her horse to the stables. It looks like it has been well trained."
The Gerudo Guards appeared beside Rina, grabbing her arms and taking her away. "Wait a minute! You mean you don't believe me? But I'm telling the truth!"
"Take her away! I don't want to speak to her anymore." The Gerudo waved her hand, and began walking in the other direction. The guards lead Rina up many flights of stairs, till they got to a landing that was inside the mountain, looking over the village. Rina noticed a large hole in the wooden floor. Without warning, the guards brought her over to it.
"In you go." the one closest to her said, and they dropped her into the cell below. Rina landed on the stone floor with a thud, and then looked up. None of the Gerudos were watching her. Rina looked over at Yuna, who had just flown in through a large hole high up on the wall.
"We HAD to go through the desert, didn't we?" Rina yelled at Yuna. Rina was furious. Her first step into Hyrule, and she was in jail.
"I'm sorry Rina! I didn't know that this was going to happen!"
Rina sighed and slumped to the floor. She didn't know what they were going to do, and she could see the light fading from the distant sky. It was going to be dark soon.

The sky was getting darker and darker. Rina was getting worried. She didn't want to have to spend the rest of her life in this stupid cell. While she was still deep in thought, something hit her head. "Ow..." she groaned, rubbing her head.”What was that..?" She looked up, there was a rope ladder coming down from the watch out platform above.
"Get up here quickly!" one of the guards yelled at her. "It's time for your trial."
"TRIAL!?!" Rina yelled at Yuna. "I don't remember anything about a trial? I don't even have a lawyer!" Wait...lawyer! That reminded her of Gremor, the man she had meant in Clock Town. If things kept getting worse, she might never see him again.
"Come on! We don't have all night!" The guard was getting mad. Rina smiled slightly, and grabbed the rope, making sure it was stable. Then she began to climb. It wasn't very long until she was up at the top, and was grabbed by the guards, who were going to escort her.
When they had gotten down to the ground, Rina saw a big crowd of Gerudos; at the front was the important one from earlier. Instead of bowing, this time the Gerudos just glared at her in disgust. Rina gulped, things didn't look to good for her. The important Gerudo raised her hand, and the crowd became silent. "We are gathered her today...” Sheesh! Rina thought. This sounds like a wedding! "...to judge this girl in our court of law." The Gerudos cheered. "Now, let the judge come forth!"
The crowd split in two to make a pathway for their revered judge. Rina didn't know what to expect. Then she saw a small girl, dressed in big robes with most of her head hidden from sight. This was the judge? A child? This girl must be special somehow though, Rina thought. There is no other reason that she would be a judge!
"This is the girl in question." The important Gerudo said to the girl. "Now grab her arm, so that we may begin." The girl walked over to Rina and grabbed her arm. Then the same Gerudo began to talk. "Now, Serena, grand daughter of the Spirit Sage. Please, aid us in the judgment of this girl."
Serena looked up, pushing some of the robes out of her face, "Go ahead, I am ready for the first question."
"This girl claims that this in Hyrule. Is that true?"
Serena froze for a moment. Rina had this strange feeling, like her thoughts were being read like a book. But then, the feeling went away, and Serene began to speak.
"That is true."
"There is one more question. Is this girl the daughter of the Hero of Time? The daughter of Link?"
With that, the feeling came back over Rina. Then it hit her, this girl could read minds! That's why she was the judge, she could judge someone honestly whether they liked it or not.
The whole crowd was tense, waiting for the answer. Then Rina felt the feeling go away. Now these Gerudos would know the truth!
"That is also correct. This girl, Rina, is the daughter of Link and Romani."

The crowds of Gerudos were shocked. "Are you serious?!" the important Gerudo said to Serena. "You mean that this girl was telling the truth?"
"Have I ever been wrong before?" Serena seemed annoyed to Rina. Like she had heard that response after using her powers every time.
"Oh my....what have we done? I am so sorry...umm...what did you say your name was?"
"Rina. My name is Rina."
"Right, Rina. Well, my name is Narin. I am the current chief of the Gerudo clan." With that, Narin bowed to Rina. Not knowing what to do, Rina bowed back. "Will you ever forgive us for what we have done to you?"
"Of course! I wouldn't hold a mistake like that against you. I mean, this is my first time in Hyrule."
"Are you saying this is your first stop within Hyrule's borders?" a Gerudo shouted from the crowd.
"Um...yes it is. I came this way because my friend Yuna suggested it." Rina looked around for Yuna, not seeing her anywhere.
"Is this Yuna invisible?"
"No! She's a fairy, but I guess that she left once the trail began..." Rina looked down. She was sad that Yuna had left her when she needed her.
"Are you talking about me behind my back Rina?" Yuna chimed. "Sorry I was gone, I just went to check on Slate, to make sure that he was ok and..."
"OH NO! Your horse!" Narin interrupted. "Some one, go get her horse from the stable! Right now!" Five Gerudos ran to the stable to liberate Slate from his prison.
"Well..." Rina began. "It was nice coming here, but I would like to get going if you don't mind. I would like to make it to Hyrule Field before it gets too dark."
"Leaving so soon, Rina?" Narin said sadly. "Well, if you want to get there before midnight, you better leave now. Do you need anything for your trip?"
"I don't think so. I packed a lot before I left home."
"Don't be a stranger! If you're ever in this area again, make sure to stop by!" After saying good-bye to the Gerudos, and thanking Serena for helping her, Rina mounted Slate and rode off to Hyrule Field.
After making it through Gerudo Valley, Rina finally made it to Hyrule Field. The moon was just rising, and she had made good time. "So Yuna, where should we head now?"
"Let's see. I think our first stop should be Hyrule Castle, and the Castle Town. That is one of the best places to start."
"Ok, sounds fun. Which way should we go then?"
"Well, we are on the eastern edge of the Field now, so going north should take us there." So they made their way north. It was pretty uneventful for a while, but when they were passing a grove of trees, Rina heard a rustling in some near by bushes.
"What's that?" Rina said as she got her bow out. "Do you know if there are any Wolfos in Hyrule Field?"
"No, normally not. But it's best to stay on your guard...you never know what will pop out at night." The rustling grew louder, and Rina got off of Slate so that she could use her bow easier. Then, out of the bushes jumped four skeleton like creatures. Three small ones and one very big one.
"What the..!" Rina shouted, backing up into Slate. "Wait a minute...those are Stalchilds. But, why is that one so big?"

Even though Rina had never fought a stalchild before, she knew that her bow would do her little good. After she put it away, she reached for her sword, but the big stalchild was to quick. It began to charge at her, not giving her enough time to draw her weapon. She darted one way and Slate galloped the other, just barely missing the Stalchilds outstretched arms. The other Stalchilds began to jeer at her as the big one lounged at her for another attack.
Rina just barely ducked in time to miss getting hit with the blunt force of the Stalchild’s skull. She rolled to the side and used her momentum to get on her feet again. After the stalchild had missed, it had continued on and ended up hitting a tree, which it snapped in half. This doesn't look to good. Rina thought. I gotta get out of here. Her thoughts were interrupted but a direct hit from the Stalchild’s left hand, sending her flying into a tree trunk.
"Ow....." Rina groaned, trying to get on her feet again. While she was trying to recover, the stalchild tried to strike again. Rina slumped down to the ground, making the Stalchild’s fist hit the tree, knocking it over. Rina's leg got caught in the roots, sending her to the ground. The Stalchild’s toothy mouth grew into a wicked grin.
"Is that it little girl? Do you have any more fight in you?" the stalchild laughed.
"No..." Rina groaned. She tried to untangle her foot, but the root was not letting go. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the smaller Stalchilds walking over towards Slate. She couldn't protect him, and she knew what she had to do. "Run Slate! Get out of here! Please! I can't help you right now...and..." Rina said sobbing, "I don't want to lose you. Don't worry! I'll find you some how!" Slate looked at her for a second, and then galloped off. He looked back once, and then continued on.
While the Stalchilds were watching Slate go, Rina was able to untangle her leg, and was now standing. The big one turned around, and used its boney hand to pin her to the ground. Rina had such little strength left, there was about nothing she could do.
"I guess you've reached your limit, haven't you girl?" The stalchild said grinning. With one swift movement, he threw Rina against the wall of rock that surrounded Hyrule Field. Rina softly groaned as she hit the wall, and then passed out.
