Alright so I recently finished my first run at FFCC Ring of Fates for the DS and I've got to say it's probably one of the best DS games I've played in awhile it even tops Castlevania DOS in my book.
So anyway onto the critical stuff.
The story is basic two clavats living with their father who's wife gave herself to an evil organization for her children to be spared, nine years later psycho evil guy comes back to get one of the children to fill the role their mother played. At this time the father is killed and the son trains to be stronger, they gather allies, kill bosses, then defeat the hierophant and live happily ever after.
Now the ratings
Gameplay: 9/10-The story mode is suprisingly short, with extra run throughs which contain more features, hidden dungeons, and more armor and weapons, sadly nothing huge changes.
Graphics: 10/10-For the Ds this game has suprisingly good graphics for in gameplay and the cutscenes although scenes can become laggy when in major fight scenes it's over all a good graphics game.
Controls: 8/10- The controls are fairly basic but sometimes the jump button is your downfall because of the camera angle and such but we'll get to that later.
Enemies: 10/10- Very impressive AI system as you gain more allies and levels enemies don't simply stay the same difficulty they grow with you creating a unique fighting area in which they learn stronger spells and better attacks.
Bosses: 7/10- I'm not going to lie the bosses were dull, the weakpoints on bosses were exposed with little or no consequence to the player.
Weapons/armor: 10/10- The selection is great and the way they are portrayed in the game is very interesting. The weapons are swords, stalves, bows, and ladles I don't get that one either.
Voice acting: 6/10- Yes this game does have voice acting, yet it is rare in the game and when it appears it's slightly blocky and emotions come and go without warning in a very robotic fashion. However I was pleased with the fact of the voice acting feature.
Multiplayer: 10/10- Multiplayer is a very unique experience indeed although there are fights on who gets what after a boss fight multiplayer is very fun and requires only a good sense of friendship. Well that and how to cast firaga on a boss.
Overall: 8.75/10- I would recommend this game if you are a fan of Final fantasy but if you're not then you'd probably think it was a bore.
