Super Smash Bros Brawl is the best game out there on the Nintendo Wii, which defenately deserves to win game of the year for 2008.
As in the other Smash games, almost all of the Nintendo characters are in the game such as Pikachu, Mario, Kirby, and Link... These are also the main characters of the Super Smash Bros Series. The Nintendo worlds meet up together, battling each other.
Four controllers are competable for this video game: The Wii Remote played sideways, Wii Remote and Nunchuck, Classic Controller, and the Gamecube Controller. You are able to customize your own controls in your name entry. Incase you forget to put it in, you should have backup-controls. This means if you have an attachment to the Wii Remote, you should change controllers, which is available at all times, even while Brawling (except with Gamecube Controller).
Your objective in this game is to try to kick characters off screen. Each time you do that, you obtain a point as you do in the previous Smash games. If an opponent masters this against you before you do, your point transfers over to that player, but your KO score stays the same. These multiplayer modes are available: Time Attack (The one I just told you about), Stock, and Coins.
Wi-Fi Connection is the first key of keeping Super Smash Bros Brawl an on-going game. However, the lag depends on the distance of the players. No available game settings are changable when playing random people; it is only available when playing with Wi-Fi friends and local multiplayer.
Smash Balls are the 2'nd key that keeps the game lasting--the main item that is destined to obtain. These allow you to to use a massive move of great destruction--the Final Smash--in which also allows you to be invincible while in the process of using this item. Each character has their own Final Smash. Mario for example, shoots out hundreds of fireballs all across the screen.
Stage Builder is great and the 3'rd success of keeping the game active. There are obstacles that are unlockable as well. Edit Parts A is available to unlock by simply playing in Sample Stages ten times. Parts B require building 5 stages, while C, you need to build 15 stages. When these--depending on how many--are unlocked, you may make the map fancier or even edit your older maps to enhance them more with your new objects. Maps are automatically download once a day when you connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Tired of playing the stages over and over again? Well you can go to Vault in the main menu, then click on Stage Builder. Create a new stage. After that's done, then you have a new map to enjoy!
The graphics in this game is better than most Wii games, such as Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, although it is slightly fuzzy in the background. You are able to switch the graphics to be sharper, but more jagged.
Adventure mode--known as Subspace Emissinary--makes the adventure in Smash Bros Melee look sad. An actual story now enters Super Smash Bros Brawl, along with movies to make more sense, whereas the previous game didn't have any movies except showing you the whole stage you had to travel through and 3 second clips. This adventure mode is about saving the universe from being sucked into subspace. You may play cooperatively in Subspace as well as Event match, All-Star Mode, and Stadium (Target Test, Home-Run Contest, Multi-Man Brawl, and Boss Battles).
